Glasto 2007 - the one with the mud

This year I took my digital camera, and I even remembered to take some pictures, so here they are :

( Thanks to Brian and Hannah for some of them )

Hannah at the Sacred Stones. What mud?

A closer look at the sacred stones. You can see so much in this picture :

The painted rubbish bins. People lying on the dry, green grass. The Sacred Stones.

The Portaloo Henge ( yes, an imitation Stonehenge made from chemical toilets – its art don’t you know ).

The pretty African-style composting toilets.

The banners - there were lots of these, and they rustle in the breeze. They say “we human beings came here and have made this our home, so we try to make it even more beautiful “.

More people lying on the dry, green grass.

Just your typical Glastonbury folk… Left to right : Hannah, Alan, Katina&Neil, Margaret.

I’m taking the picture, so you can’t actually see me, but I was there!

Notice the dry, green grass.

Tipi as a canvas… Beautiful!

The Totem Pole in the Tipi Field, with seats, flower beds and stuff to define a peaceful space.

Margaret, showing the detail of the peaceful space in the Tipi Field.

Henry’s beard Café : 3.45 was Hannah and Howerd doing a couple of Lily Allen songs… (Thanks to Hannah for this one). I took a shot of Hannah at the Banyan Tree Café doing her Open Mic performance, but the camera didn’t focus properly…Aaaah.

OK, so it had rained a little…

Hannah had bought a rainbow hoodie from a stall for a tenner, and was looking both trendy and smug!

“Yes, there is a bit of mud”. ( Hannah is on the phone ).

Wellies are such a fashion statement!

Note the Venison burger bar ( no we didn’t try it, although Hannah did develop a taste for Chai tea :)

Hannah’s hair gets braided. Excellent!

Hannah, Howerd and Huw in The Park.

Note the chocolate belly – I must do something about it  - a bigger shirt, I think…

I was determined to make the sun shine by wearing my sandals. It didn’t work.

In fact, I found out that my sandals had absolutely no grip on mud, and I had to rely on Brian and Huw to escort me down the slippery slope out of The Park – thanks to you both!

Mud.

More mud.

The view from the top of the Pyramid Stage field.

I think the Kaiser Chiefs were about to play, and we were about to head off to see Jamie T.

Notice the extensive use of appropriate clothes. We festival-goers are quite sensible, really.

Essentials : Radio to listen to Worthy FM, wind-up radio/torch/phone charger ( almost useless in fact

– I need to design a proper one ), Manuka honey to stop trench foot, water bottle, wet wipes, loo roll.

The satsuma hiding in the grass appeared there one morning for some reason.

Right until the very end, the insides of my boots were dry and clean. Now I know I have good karma!

No mud inside the tent either…

I don’t like sleeping bags, so I always take a duvet.

There’s an air mattress under there too - thank you Margaret!

Waiting for the taxi. Tired, happy, and just a tiny bit muddy…
