New! Even more music - MP3’s for you to download…

The Pianists Piano Competition I’ve recorded four pieces of my solo piano pieces for the Yamaha/The Pianists magazine competition. I don’t like the concept of competition, especially in the field of music, but “it felt right”…

I heard from the competition organisers that I did not make it into the final 20 performers. I’m glad I took the time to create a CD – its all part of the learning process…

Why I don’t eat pork…

I am a member of Subud, an international, non-denominational spiritual association. Here is the account of my weekend at the Subud UK National Congress in 2004.

I like playing Ice Hockey, but I don’t get much time to do this at the moment….

I like playing the piano. For my 49th birthday ( 2003 Oct 28 ) my family bought me 2 hours in a recording studio – here is my son Sam ( then aged 13 ) on drums and me on Yamaha PS6100 synthesiser ( twice ). One take, not much practice and no rehearsal, so lots of mistakes, presented as is  : Sam & Howerd jamming ( about 4Mbytes mp3 file). I like to play the piano at Glastonbury.

I like listening to music, especially live. Some recent favourites are : Florence and the Machine, Supertramp (again), Katie & Kirsty Lawrence and Moot (both from the Isle of Man), Jimi Hendrix, Steam ( Na na … na, kiss him goodbye… ), Sugarbabes, Fall Out Boy, Alison Krauss, Waterboys, Zero7, The Bees, Kanye West, Miri Ben Ari, Cobario.

HuniBuni – a very special rabbit, but no match for a fox…

I like programming in Forth, and especially colorForth. Forth is the simplest and most elegant way to program a computer. It works in harmony with the human brain to produce better programs, faster. It is also lots of fun!
